(LEXINGTON) – Kentucky returned to action Tuesday night, hosting the Lipscomb Bisons at Rupp Arena after last week’s thrilling win over Duke. Lipscomb, expected to contend for the Atlantic Sun title, came into the game fresh off a competitive matchup with Arkansas. However, from the start, it was clear this would be Kentucky’s night.
Kentucky imposed its will early with a 15-4 run, using superior size and athleticism to take control. The Wildcats’ pace and energy overwhelmed Lipscomb, who shot just 36% from the field. By halftime, Kentucky held a commanding 43-26 lead.
While the defense shined, forcing tough shots and tallying six blocks, Lipscomb’s early edge in offensive rebounds raised a small red flag for the Wildcats. However, standout performances, like Amari Williams’ 11-rebound effort, helped compensate for my nit-pickiness.
A crowd favorite moment came late, as freshmen Travis Perry and Trent Noah entered to loud applause. Perry, a Kentucky native, notched his first points on a smooth jumper from the Free Throw line.
Now 4-0, Kentucky is beginning to capture Big Blue Nation’s heart with a team-first approach. Turns out, playing for the name on the front matters. Who woulda thought?
Notable Stats:
• Robinson: 20 pts, 7 rebs
• Butler: 16 pts
• Williams: 9 pts, 11 rebs
• Brea: 12 pts, 7 rebs
• Perry: 2 pts
Kentucky will return to action on Friday from Rupp Arena where they will face Jackson State at 7pm, ET.
